Long time gone
November 6, 2006
So. It has taken me this long get back on this horse and I may trot before I lather up to a canter. A family issue had taken up alot of my “private thinking/writing time”. It is quite a private matter and don’t believe this is the proper forum for such things but I found myself unable to write/think about anything else every time I sat down infront of a blank post page.
Lately, I’ve been busy riding my new beast, a Kawasaki z750. It’s exhilarating but…my friend Marty just had a fairly bad accident. he was rear ended by a drunk driver who lost control of his car at 140 km/hr. They all slid about 50 m., and Marty ended up wrapped around a cement pillar, wedged between it and the car, which also careened into the pillar after Marty. Miraculously, Marty suffered no broken bones and was still very much concious throughout the whole episode. He is in hospital in Puli, with a lacerated liver. He will be out this thursday or friday, the docs say. His bike, on the other hand, is toast.

Hope things are better now.

Hey, since I moved here, I actually wanted to get one of those, but when I discovered how expensive they were here new, I thought about getting one from Canada or the States imported here. Though no one has been able to tell me the import regulations, I am fairly sure that there will be a 25% import duty on a bike bought off ebay. Doesn’t matter, if you can get a Kawasaki Z1000 for 80000NTD and when a Z750 costs 400000NTD new here.
I hope that your friend recovers quickly. Driving in the city… I don’t know. I will have to try it next year. We have been using an old scooter and I am planning on getting a better one in a few months so my wife feels safer.
